So I’ve been neglecting this this since I got back from Ecuador because I felt obligated to make my first post back about my trip, but just couldn’t sum everything up in one blog post and so I just didn’t say anything. But I have other things I want to talk about so I’m just gonna get over it. If you want to know stories, come hang out with me and I’ll talk through all my pictures with you and tell stories! Otherwise, onto real life.
I absolutely cannot wait to go back to school! Seriously, I would take reading and studying and classes over a 40 hour work week anytime. There are so many exciting things happening this school semester/year that I just want to get started now! Top reasons I can’t wait to get back:
1. First Year Guiding! I’m so excited about this position, working with first year students, getting to know new people and making new friends. Plus, I LOVE UofL, so the opportunity to share and spread that love with new students is just SO exciting. Plus, I got my list of students the other day; I’m guiding the girls on my floor! Which means not only will I get to help out a whole bunch of girls, but I’ll really get to know and get close with all the people who live with me! What could be better?
2. My classes! U.S. in the 60s (with the lovely Dana!), Comparative Political Development in Latin America, Law Diplomacy and Power, French (a new language!). I mean really, outside of Economics, I truly cannot wait to start these classes. Such interesting subjects, information that will be new to me, learning about stuff I actually care about.
3. Living with Dana again! Oh how I’ve missed our nightly hugs, cute notes, and her beautiful artwork decorating the walls. She really is the best roommate I could ask for.
4. Working the Honors Desk! Hello easy work and a chance to network within the Honors program.
5. Free nights and weekends! So that Honors desk job means I don’t have to go back to Kroger and that my work for the week will all be done by 2pm! That means I’ll have more time to hang out with friends, spend with my little, go to the gym, read, study, whatever! I don’t have to slice deli meat with drama filled women!
6. Being close to my little! Let me tell you, it has been NO fun being an hour and a half drive away from my little sister. It has been really hard to coordinate activities and schedules and just, yuck! It will be nice to be just ten minutes away. Plus, I feel like I wasn’t the best big I could be, just because I was so busy last semester, but I have plans to change that and I really think our relationship is going to get a lot better because of it!
7. Honors Student Council Exec. Board! So, I have a pretty lame position, but that’s ok! Last year it was really cool getting to meet so many people and help out, but I joined kind of late so I didn’t bond as much or help as much as I would have liked. So this year I’m going to fix that. And, I think next year I’d like to apply for a different position, but for now I’ll just be happy with hanging fliers. Oh, and redecorating the HSC bulletin board. That is long overdue.
8. Working out! Oh MAN have I fallen off the wagon with this one. Oops. But, I give up for the rest of the summer. It’s just so difficult to try and get to the gym when I am working 40 hours a week, a late shift. I’m so tired all of the time from being on my feet so much. But, back at school, I have no excuses. The gym is right there! Also, I am going to try and set real goals this year. I’d like to really start the 100 pushup challenge (I’ve accepted that it isn’t happening this summer) and get to where I can run 5k. I can’t wait because I feel so good when I exercise.
9. Being close to my boyfriend! Yeah, this pretty much doesn’t need any explanation. He’s been down in Louisville all summer. I don’t like not seeing him. At school, he will be right there all the time. Can’t beat it.
I’m sure there is more, but that is the main stuff I have for now. August 14th (tentative, could be the 12th or 13th, but will definitely be before the 15th!) can’t come soon enough!
